Easy Whole Grain Flax Waffels

Ingredients 1 cup whole wheat white flour 1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal 1/4 cup ground flax 1/4 cup wheat germ 1 large egg 1 1/2 cup buttermilk 2 Tabespoons melted coconut oil or butter 1/2 teaspoon vanilla optional 1 Tablespoon sugar optional 4 Teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon sea salt or regular salt Add flour, oatmeal, flax, wheatgerm, baking powder, sugar and salt to bowl and mix all together well. Next add buttermilk,vanilla, and egg slighty mix then add melted oil or butter. Mix all ingredients until smooth. Pre-heat your waffel iron and brush with cooking oil or butter. Add batter to waffel iron and cook acording to instructions of your waffel iron. A hot iron will make crispier waffles. Hint: if you do not have all of the whole grains, you can substitute flour in place of the whole grain. For example you can substitute 1/4 cup additional flour in place of the ground flax. |
