Look what I found in my garden today!
Look what I found in my garden today! It has been a few weeks since I started planting my vegetable garden. I have been anxiously waiting to start eating some garden fresh vegetables. Well, today is the day, I went out to see what I could, find, at last I have some fresh vegetables. There is nothing more gratifying then walking out and swooping up an armful of fresh veggies to eat at your next meal. Today, I found asparagus, radishes, cilantro, broccoli, lettuce and spinach, enough to make a wonderful salad topped with grilled asparagus. Hmm doesn’t that sound good. Gardening is so much fun, I love growing my own food, you should try it too. If you have never gardened before, start with a small space that receives full sun, about 8 foot by 8 foot. You would be amazed the amount of veggies you can grow in such a small space. It is not too late, you can still plant cucumbers, peas, zucchini, green beans, peppers and tomatoes, to harvest this summer.
To get started go buy some garden seeds. View the seed packet for instructions. The seed packet will normally give you the number of days needed until harvest and planting instructions. Harvest for most vegetables needs to happen before your first frost. Some veggies take too long to start from seed, like peppers and tomatoes, so buy them as plants for your garden. If you don’t want to grow vegetables this year, try herbs. Herbs like cilantro, parsley, thyme, basil are easy to grow. Many green houses and grocery stores sell herbs pre-planted in small containers ready to be added to your garden or re-potted for your patio or window sill. Fresh snipped herbs are great on fresh vegetables, salads or in soups. JUST PLANT SOMETHING THIS SUMMER AND ENJOY
